“Think Different.” This is one of Apple Computer’s most successful advertising campaigns. The theme of the campaign is one that celebrates figures in history who changed the world by thinking differently. Richard Feynman was among the chosen figures.
An excerpt from Apple Computer’s campaign commercial:
“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes, the ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them… about the only thing you can’t do is ignore them, because they change things, they push the human race forward; and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”

No it isn’t a good thing in general. But, I personally do not feel that way for these ‘Think Different’ ads… I feel that although Apple used them to enhance their corporate image, the ads have done something more. It has helped to inspire people! One look at Feynman’s poster with the ‘think different’ caption sure helps inspire me!
Those ads were received well and had a huge following… Apple also gave away complimentary posters featuring different celebrities to schools to hang in the classrooms… and I believe it has helped inspire many students as well…I think it was very clever of Apple to think of this ad campaign. It is by no means offensive or anything of that sort… And, the ads look very sincere.
This is how I look at it.
Check out wikipedia’s entry on the ad campaign (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Think_Different)… the page also has links to the ad videos.

But i feel that had Apple removed their logo from the posters, it would’ve enhanced their corporate image even more… or maybe, nobody would’ve noticed it was them! lol

@ Manu Mannattl
I would have to conclude that you have never used a Mac and that you cannot afford to buy one.
It is sad that you have to take the time to vilify Apple and Jobs… you kind of exemplify what the ad campaign was about!
As for Apple’s use of these planetary thinking changers as part of an ad campaign, I feel it is perfect. I just wish I could purchase the entire set of posters to hang in my board room of my company.
