ok agreed :) ...but reading does make us richer at the subconscious level.. and that shows in the writing... but the process shouldn't be made too 'academic'..if someone is constantly aware that he/she is reading to increase his/her writing skills, that's no fun at all... not much disagreement exist i'm sure... but well.. writing really tops it all off *ahem* i guess... oh well, so much for my pride... :P

...btw, you write beautifully ...and i want to sound as flattering as possible

'Cuz even if you did read tons, you wouldn't know how to write/create unless you wrote something yourself. And once you start writing, you probably flow more with what you are writing at that time, and not with what you had read somewhere in the past.

Reading helps, but I think the more you write, the better it becomes, unless of course you are snow. lol ;-)

But you're right...I shouldn't stress myself out over reading a lot of books.

Ah! my first 'critic'! :) ..i've been waiting for this day for a long long time :) ...I agree (at least partially) when you say that creation is something separate from learning and that it's quality that counts. You definitely don't need to read tons of books to write ...but there comes a point when you get stuck with your limited knowledge and experiences. That's what I was talking about. You need to expand your horizons... there's always room for improvement, and studying helps you get there... and besides, I'm pretty sure that whatever you create thesedays is rooted in books you've read and things you've experienced in your past, don't you think...you cannot create without learning in the first place!.. Creativity is fundamentally innate, but knowledge isn't!

...and welcome pal, you're my first critic... I should give you a gift or something, but I'm broke! :)

You're not making a documentary. You don't need books and documentaries to learnd about clouds. It's about creating something. I agree that good writers know a lot of things, but fact knowing has nothing to do with creation.

"I'm an educated person. I've read alot."
"Oh, have you? How many you'd re-read?"
"3 or 4."

I just don't give a crap about people having read tones of books.

Quality versus quantity. As a creator, quality always wins. Philosophy it's about having a brain and using it.

I have that something-missing feeling about the above writing as well...what, I do not know...but it's not balanced somehow! A good writer, like the one I know from the forum(!), would've turned this into a masterpiece...or maybe, i'm just paranoid and too much self-conscious ;)
